Pittock Mansion:
The French Renaissance-style Pittock Mansion is located in the west hills of Portland. It was originally built as a private home for The Oregonian publisher Henry Pittock and his wife. The 23-room mansion is built of Tenino sandstone and is situated on 46 acres that is now owned by the city's Bureau of Parks and Recreation. The mansion has appeared in a number of films: First Love (1977); Unhinged (1982); The Haunting of Sarah Hardy (1989); Body of Evidence (1993).

Portland and Mount Hood

Master Bathroom
Henry Pittock’s bathroom is basic white.  The shower is a hydraulics masterpiece from 1914. All horizontal pieces are perforated, creating a spray from all sides. There is a shampoo shower that descends from the ceiling and a bidet fountain rising from the floor. Two shower heads with handles labeled “Liver Spray” are located mid-back height level. There is also a “Test” handle for testing the temperature of the water with your toe under the lowest faucet.

Apartment Entrances:
The Alphabet Historic District is a densely populated retail and residential neighborhood in the northwest section of Portland. Craftsman- and Old Portland-style houses are packed tightly together with grand old apartment buildings.

Pioneer Place Street Musician
A number of musicians took turns using the same guitar and equipment. Remarkably this guitarist's pants didn't fall down.

Passive Panhandler
A steady stream of people passed-by this panhandler located across the street from the Pioneer Place Shopping Mall.

Union Station
The initial design for Union Station was created in 1882. Had the original plan been built, the station would have been the largest train station in the world. A smaller plan was introduced and accepted in 1885. Construction of the station began in 1890. It was built by Northern Pacific Terminal Company at a cost of $300,000, and opened in 1896.

Love your work. I did not see any people photos before and these are really fine. Any idea of the sex and age of the "spare change" person? The composition in this one is just perfect.

Leon! What interesting facts about that area - love the apartment buildings. I'll bet there are a lot of stories there. Again - a pleasure getting to see your work.

I think the musician's pants already fell down. I also love the apartments. That panhandling one really tells a story. Awesome pictures, as usual! Carol
