Old US Highway 40 in Lovelock, Nevada
Lovelock is a small (population 2,200) mining and farming town in the high desert of northwestern Nevada. Recently, it is known for the release of O.J. Simpson from the nearby Lovelock Correctional Center. US 40 was an east–west US Highway that once traversed the entire United States. It is one of the original 1926 U.S. Highways, and its first termini were San Francisco, California, and Atlantic City, New Jersey. Highway 40 through Lovelock has been replaced by Interstate 80 that bypasses the town.

Breakfast Special
It is too late for the $3.99 breakfast special once offered by a closed-down and for-sale restaurant located along old Highway 40.
Neon tubes no longer light this vintage motel sign. This old motel has seen better days, but appears to be still in business. It is located on old US Highway 40—just down the street from the Cowpoke CafĂ© where Mary and I had lunch.
