Santa Fe:
Today was a lazy day. We walked around Old Town Santa Fe, visited the Loretto Chapel, had lunch at La Boca, and sat & people-watched in the old plaza.

La Boca Restaurant:
La Boca is a Spanish tapas restaurant in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. Chef/Owner James Caruso is a three-time James Beard Award Nominee. The food was good, but the restaurant's small dining area is cramped and loud. [Rating = B+]

Santa Fe Plaza:
Santa Fe Plaza, a National Historic Landmark in downtown Santa Fe,  mirrors traditional Spanish-American colonial cities. The plaza was originally, and is still to this day, the center gathering place in town. Across the street from the plaza is the oldest public building in the United States, the Palace of the Governors. This adobe structure dates back to 1610.

Tomorrow:
Heading south to my next stop Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mary flies home, and will meet me in Las Vegas in a week.

Cutthroat Trout Swimming
"Santa Fe Current" is a permanent sculpture  by artist Colette Hosmer located at Santa Fe's Community Convention Center. “Santa Fe Current” is comprised of Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout and arranged to simulate flowing water. This composition features twenty-seven carved granite fish that analogize Santa Fe as a stream. The Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout is New Mexico’s state fish. In the wild, the Rio Grande Cutthroat is an indicator species of a perfectly balanced ecology, as they can only thrive in the cleanest waters. This artwork supports environmental responsibility.  [flickr.com]
